Knappenberg belongs to an old mining community and is located at almost 1,100 metres above sea level and belongs geographically to North Carinthia. The market town of Hüttenberg, the location of the JUFA Hotel Knappenberg****, is a world-renowned mineral site. In addition, it is the home of the legendary mountaineer Heinrich Harrer.
