Once the biggest water tower in Europe, behind the brickwork, some of which is more than 140 years old, is an exceptional interior with a timeless modern design. The three upper floors of the Wasserturm were destroyed in the second world war and only opened again in 1990 after a four year period of reconstruction. In the nearby town of Frechen, 300,000 new bricks were fired for the new walls.
